From the belle époque to the roaring twenties, Paris has always celebrated beauty in music and art — typically with its nightlife at the epicenter. However, the city had fallen behind the times. In the states, the craze for the craft cocktail had emerged driving a new appreciation for quality ingredients and innovative libations.
By creating its own cocktail week mirrored after the Tale of the Cocktail showcase hosted in New Orleans, Paris put themselves back on the map. During a time when the cold weather would typically drive away the normal hordes of tourists, the cocktail week also boosted income for hotels and local merchants.
Throughout the week, I filmed and edited a video and created photo series that captured the subtle beauty of Paris in the cold contrasted with the energy of the lively cocktail scene.
The video, with its simple cinematic approach, is a nod to the quiet romantic streets, while the photo series highlights the nightlife with its vibrantbars and spirited bartenders.
Lastly, I created a graphic design inspired by nostalgic french postal marks integrated with the natural ring marks left behind from the bottom of a glass after you’ve finished enjoying your cocktail. This was applied to a poster and brochure listing the participating bars throughout the city.
